On Saturday, March 24, 2018, Call Federal members, staff, and volunteers gathered at the Chester campus of John Tyler Community College for a late morning/early afternoon of fellowship, financial education, and attend to some official business, as required by the organization’s charter. Activities included “Explore A Passion” workshops, on topics including photography, gardening, and genealogy, as well as a “Passion Village”, where credit union staff led members through a variety of worksheets and demonstrations designed to deepen their awareness of the tools available to help them improve their financial well-being. By participating in the Passion Village, members earned stamps for a “Passion Passport” that was later turned in as an entries for a drawing where the prize was a three-piece Samsonite luggage set, a play on the underlying theme of “Where will financial health take you?”.
Members and staff then convened in the main hall to enjoy boxed lunches from Apple Spice Junction and a musical performance by students from the Passion Academy, before getting down to official business of the day. One by one, the credit union’s board, lead by Jim Horne, and Call Federal President Roger Ball each took turns assuring the collected members of the ongoing strength of the organization. Feedback from the event was almost universally positive with constructive suggestions given to make next year’s event even better.
