The Children’s Museum of Richmond (CMoR) is pleased to announce the unveiling of new bank exhibits coming to the Central and Chesterfield locations. Grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, April 29th at 10am.
Presented by Call Federal, the bank exhibit focuses on financial literacy in a playful environment offering guests hands-on learning opportunities. The Bank exhibits allow young visitors to encounter familiar spaces, including an ATM and air tube deposit system, in a child-sized, hands-on environment. These features expand a child’s conception of a bank, while providing additional counting and sorting opportunities and encouraging activities that develop fine and gross motor skills.
“Call Federal is committed to improving the financial lives of Richmond families and where better to start than with our children? These exhibits give kids a wonderful introduction to money and provide parents resources to share the value of financial responsibility. It brings us great joy to continue our association with the Children’s Museum of Richmond through these new ‘branches’” says Roger Ball, President & CEO of Call Federal Credit Union.
Children and their families will have the opportunity to practice counting and make decisions about saving vs. spending. The exhibit will teach and encourage basic math and problem-solving skills and will help to promote financial awareness.
“We are thrilled to have a partner like Call Federal supporting family-centered learning and offering financial literacy programming to families who visit the Children’s Museum of Richmond.” Says Shannon Venable, President & CEO of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Research supports that, when children learn through play, they develop problem-solving skills and learn how to explore different options. Saving and understanding the difference between wants and needs is a key element of the exhibit providing learning opportunities engaging both children and their families.”
The Children’s Museum of Richmond is dedicated to providing opportunities for early education and features multiple learning areas and exhibits intended for children eight years old and younger. The exhibits are specifically designed to promote social, cognitive, and physical development through hands-on learning experiences
